Qatar National Day
Qatar only started celebrating it’s national day
on the 18th of December when the Emiri Diwan decreed it in
2007. Before, the 3rd of September used to be celebrated as the
national day. Qatar’s National Day marks the day that Sheikh Jassim bin
Mohammad bin Thani succeeded his father as leader of the tribes of Qatar in
1878. It differs from Qatar's Independence Day which happened when Qatar
gained independence from the British Empire on the 3rd September 1971.
